Job Summary:The Accounts Payable associate (internally known as a Project Accountant) performs the financial administration aspects for LandSouths construction projects. This position is responsible for monitoring the financial progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected. The Project Accountant maintains financial compliance with the companys policies, procedures, and established standards, and communicates potential financial risks to management.

  • Ensure job cost expenses correspond to committed cost.
  • Input and compare draws and invoices against the schedule of values and purchase order.
  • Review invoices for accuracy, compare against applicable schedule(s), and scan invoices into construction management software with proper routing and coding.
  • Assess and identify inconsistencies in draws for subcontracts, purchase orders, and other financial documentation.
  • Confirm that the paperwork needed for retainage requests is complete.
  • Ensure lien releases are secured before and after payment.
  • Obtain subcontract and purchase order documents/statements.
  • Maintain and update the list of entities with lien rights on a subcontractor supplier list.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of lien laws in states where jobs are active.
  • Manage utility payments to ensure units turned over are billed back to the owner.
  • Perform Accounts Payable functions.
  • Ensure construction management software is functioning as planned in areas associated with duties and support corrections as needed.
  • Participate in budget meetings to observe project financial information.
  • Guide team members on financial processes and procedures.
  • Provide accounting/finance project administrative assistance as requested.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Bookkeeping/accounts payable experience preferred.
    • Construction industry experience preferred.
    • Must have a valid Driver's License.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
    • Must be able to pass a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations.
