Job Description Norstrem Associates recruits key professionals for growing companies throughout Florida. We are one of the most established and longstanding boutique firms in Florida and have been working with upwardly mobile professionals since 1998. Our growing Jacksonville area venture backed, medical device client has engaged us to recruit a driven professional for a crucial position. The Controller will be responsible for the integrity of the Company---s financial operations. The position is critical for the achievement of the organizations--- goals by assisting in strategic planning, providing timely financial information and establishing effective policies and controls for the business. Main Responsibilities Direct and oversee the Finance and Accounting functions within the organization Lead accounting staff in the areas of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general ledger accounting in accordance with GAAP (Sarbanes Oxley experience a plus) Review/Reconcile monthly account reconciliations Month end close with financial reporting to executive management and Board Preparation of various financial performance reports Preparation/coordination of budgets and forecasts. Provide recommendations to CEO, COO and executive management to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities. Provide leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives. Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting Develop and implement policies and procedures for the organization that will improve overall operational effectiveness Create and maintain financial forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting Manage a comprehensive standard costing system with measurement of underlying variances (labor, COGS, variable expenses, price, usage/turns, etc.) Optimize cash management including directing A/P processing and supporting A/R Identify improvements and cost savings initiatives across departments/cost centers Coordinate external annual audit and tax return preparation with external CPA firm Oversee the commercial insurance, evaluating coverage options and calculating risk Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position. Requirements Bachelors in Accounting or Finance required and a CPA MBA and/or CMA preferred 5-7 years of recent, progressive responsibility in financial leadership roles within the medical device or healthcare industry with development stage company experience Experience in the audit department of a Big 4 or national CPA firm working with healthcare or medical device clients 3 years financial leadership within a matrix organization Experience within medical device/patient reimbursement arena Strong proficiency in MS Office, working with an ERP system (ie; MS Navision) and CRM Excellent interpersonal skills, communicate and manage well at all levels Strong problem solving skills, sound judgment and accurate and timely analyses Hands-on, results-orientation professional with a strong sense of urgency Please note this is an on-site position in Jacksonville, Florida. We will not consider remote employees nor do we have a relocation budget. Only candidates local to Jacksonville, or candidates with prior relocation plans will be considered.
