Job Description:
WORK TO BUILD HUMANITY'S FUTURE IN SPACE The VP of Engineering
is responsible for overall engineering talent, research, design,
development, testing, and controls for all space offerings and
programs.--
-- Conducts Gate review process, managing review boards, and
managing launch readiness. -- Implements and conducts peer review
best practices. -- Conducts Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA),
and implementing Lessons Learned.-- -- Forecasts for engineering
staffing demand and allocates talent based on business needs.-- --
Analyzes project requests and proposals and engineering data to
determine feasibility, producibility, cost, and production time of
space products.-- -- Directs and coordinates activities of
engineering or technical staff designing, fabricating, modifying,
or testing of space products.-- -- Leads IRAD process, ensuring
focus on growth technologies and execution of IRAD projects.-- --
Develops design criteria for space products or systems, including
testing methods, production costs, quality standards, and
completion dates.-- -- Plans and conducts experimental,
environmental, operational and stress tests on models and
prototypes of aircraft and aerospace systems and equipment.-- --
Evaluates new technologies for application in improving design of
aerospace systems. -- Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates
testing of space systems. -- Performs risk assessment of aerospace
systems and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies.-- --
Implements and oversees Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
implementation. Experience: Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 16+
years of experience or a Masters' with 14+ years of experience in
the aerospace/space industry. Recognized space industry specialist
with technical insight in multiple engineering fields and
disciplines. Complexity of work is state of the art and may be new
to the Company and to the industry.-- --Serves as consultant to the
business unit in long-range planning concerning new or projected
areas of technological research and advancements.-- --Proven track
record in developing strong relationships within the space industry
with customers, vendors, suppliers and other business
relationships.-- --Must have substantial experience managing space
programs with an emphasis in R & D.-- --Must have extensive
experience hiring, developing and mentoring top engineering
talent.-- --5 or more years' experience in attracting/obtaining
major new business.-- --Must be experienced with Gate review
process, managing review boards, and managing Launch readiness.
Must be able to implement and conduct peer review best
practices.
--Required experience conducting Root Cause Corrective Action
(RCCA), and implementing Lessons Learned.
--Must have experience with PLM strategies (Configuration
management). Proficiency in Design re-use and Qualification Data
base management also required.-- Security Clearance is
beneficial.
--Education:-- Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Aerospace
or related field. Master's Degree strongly preferred.-- BENEFITS:
