we--Summary/Objective The human resource manager directs and
coordinates human resources activities such as employment,
compensation, payroll, benefits, recruiting and training.
- Directs and coordinates all activities of the functional areas.
Participates in developing department goals, objectives and
- Analyzes wage and salary reports and data to determine
competitive compensation plan. Active in annual compensation
- Administers and promotes employee benefit programs such as
retirement plans; medical, dental, vision plans; life insurance
plans, temporary disability programs, leave programs, and wellness
programs. Assists with enrollment and open enrollment as needed.
Assist employees with claims resolution, approving invoices for
payment, and participate in annual re-evaluation of plans.
- Actively oversees activities of Corporate and Port HR/Payroll
- Conducts/coordinates routine audits of benefit
- Monitors the performance evaluation program and recommends
revisions as necessary.
- Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and
procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and
- Ensures required reports are filed timely related to
employment, payroll and benefits, such as EEO-1 and Form 5500.
Maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to required
- Conducts/coordinates recruitment effort for all Corporate
exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; writes and places
advertisements; works with supervisors to screen and interview
candidates; conducts reference checking; extends job offers;
conducts new-employee orientations; employee relations counseling;
conducts exit interviews.
- Coordinates company-wide training for all employees.
- Partners with Port leaders regarding employee relations
- Partners with Corporate Safety Manager and/or Port leaders or
HR/Payroll Specialists regarding workers compensation issues.
- Establishes and maintains department records and reports.
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other
meetings, such as seminars.
- Disseminate Corporate policies to Port locations.
- Evaluates reports, decisions and results of department
initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new
approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual
improvements in efficiency of department and services

pounds.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time
position. Days and hours of work is primarily Monday through
Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long
hours and weekend work.TravelTravel is primarily local during the
business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be
expected.Required Education and ExperienceA bachelor's degree and
five years of human resource experience, or nine years of
experience in the HR field.Preferred Education and ExperienceA
master's degree in human resource management, or a combination of
education and experience.--SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) credential.--Certified
Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) professional designation and/or
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).--Additional Eligibility
Qualifications--Maintain certification continuing education
requirements.--Work Authorization/Security ClearanceThe
Transportation Worker Identification Credential, also known as
TWIC--, is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for
workers who need access to secure areas of the nation's maritime
