is seeking a Full Time Vice President, Ports/Maritime National
Electrification and Decarbonization Business Leader. This position
may sit out of any of the following locations: California -Irvine,
San Diego. Texas - Houston. Florida - Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami.
North Carolina - Raleigh.Provide regional, market and multi-sector
leadership and cross-sector collaboration to develop and lead WSP's
ports electrification and decarbonization practice nationally to
supplement our industry-leading port planning and infrastructure
design team. Focus of this role is on port
modernization/electrification projects, cruise and port shore power
works, renewable energy projects and maritime zero emission and
alternative fuel programs, and microgrid systems.Responsibilities
include providing subject matter expertise (SME), leading technical
deliverables, and delivering infrastructure projects and programs
with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry
standards for design, safety, and functionality. Responsible for
SME innovation and administration, providing corporate compliance
with all Local, State, and Federal engineering, construction, and
safety regulations, and providing strategic and consistent
direction to address current and future challenges in a large-scale
and multi-faceted business organization. Hands-on understanding of
IEEE and/or equivalent practices, electrical load calculations,
procurement of transformers/generators, and switchracks, and port
operations including STS quay cranes, semi/fully automated
container handling equipment (ARMGs, eRTGs, ASCs), electric
vehicles is desired.Your Impact
- Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the design,
implementation, and administration of practice within the national
maritime business line.
- Lead execution of large and multidisciplinary port
electrification and decarbonization projects focusing on capture
planning and successful pursuit of public, private and federal
maritime projects, developing contributors who know what they are
required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing PS&E
packages and relevant project budgets, monitoring internal and
external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory
performance and profitability, and supervising subcontractors,
contract work, and employees.
- Provide expert technical assistance on various engineering,
design, and construction issues relating to port electrification
and decarbonization systems for projects.
- Responsible for the pursuit and development of business and the
successful execution of port electrification and decarbonization
work for current and potential clients nationally in conjunction
with regional maritime leadership and WSP Energy business
line.
- Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations,
and meetings.
- Drive the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline
development of port electrification and decarbonization work for
WSP in assigned area of responsibility, with a focus on
infrastructure opportunities in all disciplines (planning, design,
and strategic consulting and program/construction management).
- Accountable for the profitable performance of the individual
projects/identified scope and associated successful completion
within the specified area.
- Drive compliance and accountability-at-all-levels with
applicable Federal, State, and Local
engineering/design/construction laws, codes, policies, and
regulatory requirements.
- Oversee internal vision and mission for the engineering
discipline, ensuring alignment with business operations strategy,
and maintaining that certifications, accreditations, and client
value ratings are continuously improved.
- Lead engineering discipline meetings and provide continuing
educational opportunities for area of responsibility, with focus on
fostering innovation, development, and quality project delivery
within the discipline.
- Serve as the engineering discipline's representative/liaison to
a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local
Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, architects, industry-related
groups, and various government and community entities.
- Foster cross-collaboration with energy business line.
- Provide senior leadership for proposals and project work
scopes, pricing, budget, and performance metrics for the
engineering discipline.
- Interpret and summarize data, including reports and documents
for complex projects and initiatives that result in sound
engineering and regulatory conclusions.
- Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project
teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to
clients.
- Provides performance guidance and proactive leadership to
assigned managers and staff with the focus on staff retention,
development, and growth.
- Develop business contacts and a client base associated with
port electrification/decarbonization industry, identify and
strategize on business development opportunities, and cross-sell
other WSP capabilities.
- Remain current in latest port electrification and
decarbonization/alternate energy techniques and practices. Be
acquainted with EPA Clean Ports programs and other federal and
state funding resources as it relates to port electrification
and/or decarbonization works.
- Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines
to provide future ready solutions for clients.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding
company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of
Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business
needs.Who You AreRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or closely related
discipline.
- 12+ years of relevant post education experience in port
electrification and/or decarbonization design with at least 5 major
container terminal and/or port alternative energy projects.
- Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
- Advanced proficiency with port electrification and
decarbonization principles, practices, process, design/build,
standard of care, and the application to project work-related
issues.
- Extensive advanced proficiency with terminal electrical
equipment/infrastructure design.
- Advanced knowledge of appropriate marine, port, and coastal
construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and
record-keeping requirements as it relates to electrification and
decarbonization projects, and the business impact upon the
organization.
- Demonstrated ability with establishing, implementing, and
managing multiple larger-scale discipline-related programs,
documents, projects, and practices for a line(s) of business
including but not limited to developing PS&E packages.
- Technical reports, and cost estimates.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills
with the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively,
and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the
organization.
- Strategic lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with
attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a
pressure work environment focused on performance and growth.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources,
including senior management, clients, architects, and company-wide
staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical
relationship exists.
- Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate
flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business
needs.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency with office automation, load
calculations, discipline-specific design software (i.e., ETAPS or
equivalent), technology, math principles, predictive models,
spreadsheets, and tools used in the corporate environment.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability
to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment
policies.
- Limited Travel may be required to meet with clients, develop
opportunities, and address project-specific requirements.Preferred
