Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse
General Summary of Duties: Provides professional nursing care for
clinic patients following established standard and practices.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Clinic Manager
Supervision Exercised: None
Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion
including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger
dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking
for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items
weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to
normal range. Requires working knowledge of electronic health
record system. Requires working under stressful conditions or
working irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases
or bodily fluids.
Typical Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable
diseases, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a
clinic environment.Duties consist of:
1. Provide pre-op instructions and education to patient and
document in patient record.
2. Review clinic schedule and patient record in preparation for
clinic.
3. Understands assessment and plan diagnosis, provides patients
with instructions for follow up, diagnostic testing, and any
necessary appointments ordered by provider.
4. Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction
to drugs and treatments to physicians.
5. Respond to prescription refill request and pharmacy calls and
call-in medication as ordered by physician.
6. Reviews home health orders for all physicians, obtaining
signatures, and faxing back to originating agency.
7. Respond to patient and family phone calls regarding medications
and treatment instructions and pre/post operative issues and
questions.
8. Answers and responds to home health calls.
9. Triage severity of all incoming calls and routes appropriately
during urgent/emergent situations.
10. Order medical supplies as needed. Monitor exam rooms for
cleanliness.
11. Complete FMLA and patient disability forms in a timely manner
with a maximum of 7 processing.
12. Answer phones as needed.
13. Maintain information in a confidential manner.
14. Participate in compliance training for the office.
15. Maintains knowledge of insurance and compliance requirements in
accordance with job related duties, addressing Clinic Manager with
issues or concerns requiring clarification.
16. Participate in OHSA training for the office.
17. Perform other jobs as needed.
Performance requirements:
Knowledge of nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement
and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies,
regulations and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of
medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a
safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the
principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to
provide ongoing patient care. Skill in identifying problems, and
researching and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and
maintaining electronic health records and writing reports. Skill in
developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in
establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with
patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to maintain quality
control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in
emergency situations. Ability to intercept, adapt and apply
guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Experience: Two years of professional nursing experience.
Certificate/license requirements: Possession of a State Registered
Nurse license and CPR certification.
