The Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional care of patients referred to JVC for treatment.

Supervision Received: Reports to the Practice Manager
Supervision Exercised: None

Duties of the Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN):


  • Triage of patients prior to procedures, including vital signs, updating smoking history and medical history and discuss and input the appropriate review of systems on each patient.
  • Reconcile patient medication with patient and marking it reconciled in clinical module, understanding that if you notice patient is on a blood pressure medication, making sure Hypertension is also on patient's problem list, etc.
  • Monitoring and caring for the patient post procedure ensuring that the patient is discharged with minimal to no pain, minimal to no nausea, and with proper understanding of procedure and postprocedural care and follow-up.
  • All lab values required for determining patent's health status before, during, and after procedure are conveyed to the physician/surgeon by the nurse.
  • Assessing the condition of patients and addressing any concerns associated with the patient throughout their visit.
  • Must be able to function in both, sterile and non-sterile fields as needed.
  • Follow-up phone calls will be made to all patients seen within the center within 3days post procedure to ensure desired progress is being made. Documentation must be maintained of follow-up phone calls.
  • Answer phones as needed.
  • Provide required assistance as instructed by surgeons.
  • Responsible for carrying out preparations needed prior to procedures to ensure that the procedure goes well.
  • Monitoring patients while under conscious sedation according to policy.
  • Daily crash cart checks with documentation.
  • Daily narcotic inventory and documentation every morning and at the end of each shift.
  • Weekly inventory and documentation of perpetual narcotics.
  • Monthly inventory of medications in procedure rooms, crash carts, and nursing cabinet with documentation.
  • Stocking nursing carts in both procedure rooms weekly and as needed.
  • Scan/fax discharge and procedural notes to dialysis centers prior to end of shift daily.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments as instructed by the surgeons.
  • Perform other jobs as needed or instructed by Practice Manager.


    Requirements:
    Performance Requirements of the Full-Time Registered Nurse:

    • Knowledge of nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patientcare.
    • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
    • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
    • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
    • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in identifying problems and researching and recommending solutions.
    • Skill in preparing and maintaining electronic health records and writing reports.
    • Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients.
    • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
    • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
    • Ability to intercept, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
    • Ability to communicate clearly.
    • Demonstration the following core competencies and behaviors: nursing process, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, flexibility, organizational skills, accountability and leadership.

      Education of the Full-Time Registered Nurse: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
      Experience of the Full-Time Registered Nurse: Two years of professional nursing experience.
      Certificate/license requirements: Possession of an unencumbered Florida Registered Nurse license. Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

      Typical Physical Demands of the Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN): Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working knowledge of electronic health record system. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.

      Typical Working Condition of the Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN): Frequent exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations another conditions common to the procedural environment.
