QualificationsThe Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers
high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with
the nature and specific requirements of the department, and
consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the
relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care
team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic
tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving
invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation. -We are an amazing

What you will do in this role:
- You will perform and document patient assessment, including
breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct
diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to,
respiratory therapy.
- You will administer respiratory care therapies, including
oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest
physiotherapy.
- You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will
initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will
notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an
unintended response.
- You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent
patients.
- You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure
airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as
required.
- You will perform routine and high-risk procedures as prescribed
by the Physician and follow appropriate policy in the application
of respiratory procedures.
- You will communicate with physicians on the effectiveness of
respiratory care procedures.
- You will thoroughly explain and answer patient and family
questions regarding respiratory care.
- You will review patients' charts to verify order and check for
contradictions of therapy.
- You will assess patient and provide proper documentation in
patient's chart as related to therapy.
- You will assemble, install, disassemble, assess and maintain
equipment according to manufacturer and department policy. -
What qualifications you will need:
- Acceptable degree from an accredited school - Associate in
Respiratory Therapy or Bachelor Degree in Respiratory Therapy is
required
- A Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Florida, in
accordance with law and regulation, is required
- 1-3 years of experience is preferred. Hospital setting
experience highly desirable.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of
employment start date
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Provider is required or must
be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required or must
be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP) has provided
