DESCRIPTION:The School Psychologist is responsible for assessing,
diagnosing, and treating children with a variety of mental,
emotional, social, behavioral, cognitive, and trauma related
conditions. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations,
collaborate with families and staff, and advocate for inclusive
practices that support the developmental needs of all
children.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure the provision of
comprehensive services to children with mental, emotional, social,
behavioral, cognitive, and trauma related conditions.Assess
psychological, intellectual, cognitive, social, and behavioral
issues with testing and evaluation that include:Developmental and
learning differences, including attention deficit/hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD), intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder,
dyslexia, and communication disordersDisruptive behavior disorders
including conduct disorder and oppositional defiant disorderGrief,
loss, and trauma related disorders3. Provide direct intervention
services such as behavior therapy, play therapy, child-parent
therapy, child anger management therapy, child trauma therapy,
cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), etc.4. Develop Individualized
Family Support Plans (IFSP) and Individualized Education Plans
(IEPs), as needed and ongoing support.5. Foster a collaborative
team environment that promotes effective communication and teamwork
among the Child Disabilities, Child Mental Health, and Behavior
Intervention staff and other departmental Head Start personnel.6.
Support the Specialists as they collaborate and meet with families
to understand and address the unique needs of children with
disabilities and special needs, ensuring their active participation
in the program.7. Attend staffing meetings as needed/requested.8.
Participate in case management meetings as required.9. Assist in
the development and establish partnerships with community
organizations, agencies, schools, and professionals to enhance
services and resources available to children and families.10.
Monitor and ensure the maintenance of accurate records, progress,
and documentation ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance
Standards, IDEA, and other relevant regulations.11. Support the
development and implementation of policies and procedures in
compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and state
and federal regulations.12. Provide support on the recruitment
strategies that promote enrollment of children with
disabilities.13. Provide recommendations for improvement for
program effectiveness and school readiness outcomes related to
children with disabilities and special needs.14. Provide support
and assistance in the identification of children with special needs
and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in
collaboration with the IEP team.15. Collaborate with educators,
parents, and administrators to create a supportive and inclusive
learning environment where all students can thrive.16. Provide
recommendations on the process for conducting comprehensive
evaluations to assess childs cognitive, academic, social, and
emotional functioning and provide support as requested.17. Provide
support as needed to Interpret assessment results and provide
recommendations/referrals for medical, educational interventions
and accommodations.18. Serve as a resource and liaison between ECS
and the public schools and community to provide services to
children with identified disabilities and to secure contracts with
LEAs.19. Monitor activities and/or strategies to support successful
transitions of children with disabilities to and from Head
Start/Early Head Start.20. Coordinate and/or conduct training for
staff and families on topics related to children with psychological
and special needs.21. All other duties as requested to maintain the

required.)Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS: Masters or doctoral degree
in School Psychology or a related field, and, Licensed by the
Florida Department of Health (DOH) in the field of School
Psychology requiredSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Understanding
typical and atypical child development stages, including cognitive,
emotional, social, and physical development. Ability to identify
and address developmental delays or disorders early on. Proficiency
in conducting psychological assessments and evaluations to identify
developmental or behavioral issues. Familiarity with relevant laws
and regulations related to special education and student support
services Skills in observing and interpreting children's behavior
in various settings to understand their needs and strengths.
Ability to design and implement therapeutic behavior management
strategies and interventions tailored to young children.
Proficiency in using play therapy, cognitive-behavioral techniques,
and other child-friendly therapeutic methods. Skills in educating
and supporting parents about child development, behavioral
management, and effective parenting strategies. Experience working
with educators, social workers, and other professionals to create a
holistic support system for children. Knowledge of social services
and community resources to link families with appropriate agencies
and services. Ability to motivate people to high levels of
commitment and performance. Ability to mentor, train, and counsel
effectively Ability to collaborate with other employees and the
public in a tactful and diplomatic manner. Ability to quickly
assess situations and implement appropriate interventions. Skills
in handling crises and emergencies, including behavioral crises or
family issues, in a calm and effective manner. Ability to
communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other staff
members to develop and implement individualized plans for children.
Commitment to strengthen families but with ultimate commitment to
the well-being of the child. Understanding and respecting the
diverse cultural backgrounds of the children and families served
and incorporating this knowledge into practice. Skills in training
and supporting teachers and staff on best practices for addressing
behavioral and developmental issues. Ability to perform with little
direct supervision. Knowledge of applicable child safety and
abuse-reporting procedures Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
at an intermediate to advanced level Ability to communicate
effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain
confidential information. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and
work in fast-paced environment.LICENSES, CERTIFICATION OR
REGISTRATIONS: Valid drivers license and proof of automobile
coverage Satisfactory Driving Record (as outlined in Vehicle
Driving Policy) Complete a minimum of 15 clock hours of
professional development per year. FL DOH license as a School
Psychologist (Required)ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Works in an office
setting Local travel to multiple sites required. Some out-of-town
travel, including nights and weekends required.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL
SKILLS: Acceptable eyesight & hearing (with or without correction)
