Job Description:
Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida is
seeking an experienced Head & Neck Surgical Oncologist to serve as
Chief, Section of Head & Neck Surgery within our Division of
Surgery. This leadership position will guide a growing
multidisciplinary Head and Neck Surgical Oncology team while
advancing innovative clinical care, research, and education in a
rapidly expanding cancer center serving Northeast Florida and
beyond. About the Role The Section Chief will provide vision,
clinical, and operational leadership for the Head & Neck Surgery
program, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration across all
surgical subspecialties, medical oncology, radiation oncology,
reconstructive surgery, pathology, and other key disciplines. The
ideal candidate will be a dynamic surgeon with proven leadership
ability, a strong commitment to clinical excellence, and a vision
for expanding a comprehensive head and neck surgical oncology
program that serves the greater Jacksonville community. The Section
Chief will also maintain an active surgical practice, contribute to
the education of clinical faculty, team members, and trainees, and
participate in research and quality initiatives aligned with
Baptist MD Anderson’s mission. Key Responsibilities - Lead the
strategic growth and clinical direction of the Head & Neck Surgery
Section. - Supervise and mentor a team of head and neck surgeons,
including those with microvascular flap expertise. - Partner with
multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure seamless integration of
surgical, medical, and radiation oncology care. - Develop and
expand patient access and referral networks across Baptist Health
and Baptist Primary Care. - Engage in academic, educational, and
research activities independently, and in collaboration with The
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. - Oversee quality,
safety, and performance initiatives within the Section. -
Contribute to institutional leadership through committee
participation and cross-departmental collaboration. - Maintain an
active clinical practice in head and neck oncology surgery. Ideal
Candidate - Board Certified in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery
with fellowship training in Head & Neck Surgical Oncology - Minimum
of 5 years of post-fellowship experience with demonstrated academic
and leadership accomplishments. - Proven ability to build and grow
multidisciplinary clinical programs. - Commitment to advancing
clinical research and academic collaboration. - Visionary
leadership style with excellent interpersonal and mentorship
skills. - Eligible for unrestricted Florida medical license and DEA
registration. Program Highlights - Team of two existing Head & Neck
Surgeons, both skilled in microvascular flap reconstruction and
robotic surgery; active recruitment underway for an additional Head
and Neck surgeon. - Collaborative, physician-led environment with
administrative and operational support. - Protected administrative
time for leadership and administrative duties. - Access to
comprehensive resources of Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, and
our Baptist Health System including advanced surgical suites,
radiation therapy, and clinical research programs. - Head and Neck
call shared within the group; General ENT call covered by ENT
hospitalist - Integration with the Cancer Network and the
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for education,
research, and quality initiatives. - Multidisciplinary conference
