Payroll Specialist Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to be responsible for all payroll-related tasks. The Payroll Specialist's responsibilities include collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, calculating wages and commissions, preparing and processing employee payments timely, and maintaining accurate payroll records.

To be successful as a Payroll Specialist you should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards. An outstanding Payroll Specialist should also have excellent people skills and a high numerical aptitude.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee employee paychecks and calculate net salaries considering deductions and withholdings, ensuring payroll and tax documents are accurate.
  • Calculate and manage draw balances and commission payments for sales team including researching issues identified with sales rep commission.
  • Maintain data in ADP Workforce Now and software programs.
  • Calculating wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, etc.
  • Process overtime earnings and holiday deductions and resolve payroll problems in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
  • Update general ledger and payroll files and monitor paid/unpaid leaves.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve concerns timely.
  • Participate in payroll audits and ensure compliance with governmental laws on payroll accounting and taxes.
  • Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
  • Process 401k, vacation and commission accruals.
  • Participate in month-end reconciliations.
  • Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management. Job Requirements:
    • Experience with ADP Workforce Now
    • Degree in accounting, business, or a related field preferred.
    • Experience working in payroll or a similar role
    • Working knowledge of calculating commissions and draw balances
    • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
