Local Unit & Position DescriptionProduct Line Renewables & Ocean
Structures builds and distributes engineering software. Our mission
is to "empower the world's professionals to accelerate the energy

software products includes a combination of successful industry
favorites like Sesam, Bladed, and Nauticus Machinery, and new
products aiming for hypergrowth WindFarmer and SolarFarmer.Our
Product Line is part of the DNV - Digital Solutions business area,
built up of functional teams across a collaborative organization
structure. The Renewables & Ocean Structures product line includes
a product Centre where software is developed, a product management
team, sales regions and a marketing and communications team. This
technically focused Business Development role will report to the
Head of Business Development, Americas Region as part of the
regional commercial team.The Technical Business Development Manager
will work with both the Business Development team and Account
Managers, being a highly visible client facing position, taking the
technical lead, from early-stage client interaction, contract
closing and through to the onboarding process within the highly
active N. American offshore wind sector.An engineering background
will be essential for this role; however, a natural commercial
aptitude will also be required to ensure the value is always at the
forefront of client engagement.A natural outgoing personally and
ability to engage clients at all levels of their organization is
essential, along with the willingness to travel to be sat with the
client.This role will be supported technically by the Product Line
and Product Center. These knowledge centers are located globally,
so ability to build these remote relationships will be essential to
the success of this position. This role can be equally as suited to
a graduate with a few years of experience who is looking to
professionally develop, as someone with an extensive career history
- the balance of technical and commercial mindset are the key
traits for this position.What You'll Do
- Work hand in hand with the Business Development team, also
supporting the Account Management team, taking the technical lead
in client discussions, also leading product demonstrations and
workshops
- Be the technical go to person within the N. American market,
interacting with the global Product Center / Product Line for
second line technical support
- Be customer facing and be energized by this
- Have / gain the high-level technical knowledge for all products
within the Renewable and Ocean Structure portfolio
- Have a commercial mindset, ensuring the technical value
proposition is demonstrated at all times
- Lead customer technical meeting, either independently or as
joint meetings with Business Development Managers/Account
Managers
- Attend conferences, presenting technical papers / sit on
technical panels
- Work closely with Product Marketing to provide regional market
feedback, being the voice of the customer and providing
constructive input into the product roadmaps
- Support our Customer Advisory Board and be the regional
conduitPosition QualificationsWhat is required
- 3+ years industry experience in pre-sales management (or
similar customer facing technical position)
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering related field
- Working as part of an integrated sales team
- Proactively build and maintain strong relationships, both
externally and internally
- Have worked in a multi-cultural technical and commercial
environment
- Courage to make qualified independent decisions and move
forward
- Solution oriented and highly proactive
- Collaborative, both within immediate team and the wider
business
- Excellent communication skills and ability to inspire people,
developing strong relationships
- Willingness to travel to where the customer is - primarily east
and west coast US
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Pre-employment drug and background screeningWhat is preferred
- Experience and domain knowledge of the renewables and/or
offshore energy industries within the N American market
- A working knowledge of DNV Renewable and Ocean Structures
software portfolio (or competitor products) would be a distinct
advantage
- A professional network within the offshore and / or wind
sector; this may be from a substructure design / developer / OEM /
software background
- Spanish or Portuguese fluency
