JOB SUMMARY: The CEI Entry Level Engineer(Engineer Intern)
performs quality assurance assessments to ensure construction
matches the contracted services. Under the supervision and
direction of the CEI Project Administrator/Project Engineer or CEI
Senior Inspector/Senior Engineer Intern the duties of this position
include performing verification of construction and completing work
in accordance with the Construction Contract documents. The CEI
Engineer Intern provides surveillance of the Contractor's Quality
Control activities at the project site. Duties also include
maintaining a daily log of construction and inspection activities
and comparing progress reports. This position frequently works with
little direct supervision.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform quality assurance assessmentsassessing the
actual-to-contracted service, materials, construction.
- Act as a liaison between company staff, client, and
- Input and extract data.
- Review and analyze reports.
- Assist the CEI Senior Inspector/Senior Engineer Intern in the
performance of duties.
- Inspect, sample, and test materials entering into the work in
accordance with the plans, specifications, and special provisions
for the construction Contract to determine that projects are
constructed in reasonable conformity with such documents.
- Communicate with Company staff frequently using email and
OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS:
- Complete a detailed daily log of construction and inspection
- Maintain a safe work environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: BS in Engineering from an accredited college or
Registration: Registered Engineer Intern
Experience: None, 1 year student internship or masters degree
Qualifications: (as stipulated by Client, and may include)
CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
CTQP Pile Driving Inspection (bridges)
CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (required for inspection of all
drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as signs
structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structures)
IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level 1
CTQP Final Estimates Level I
FDOT Intermediate MOT
Certifications: Must be earned within one year of becoming a CEI
Nuclear Radiation Safety
Florida Stormwater, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Training
and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors
Other: Valid Drivers License with an acceptable MVR
FDOT Critical Structures Construction Issues self-study course
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The CEI Engineer Intern must
have a high level of knowledge on the practical application of
engineering science and technology. This includes applying
principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to provide
construction observation services. This role requires an
understanding of the processes, materials, methods, and tools
involved in construction. The CEI Engineer Intern must be able to
apply basic arithmetic, algebra, and geometry to daily work. To be
successful in this role, this employee must be able to effectively
and efficiently communicate information and ideas in speech and in
writing so others may understand. Responsible for performing
assignments in assisting CEI Senior Inspector/Senior Engineer
Intern in the performance of their duties. Receive general
supervision from CEI Senior Inspector/Senior Engineer Intern who
reviews work while in progress.
