Job Description Position Summary: BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair Division is seeking to hire Riggers from entry level to extensive experience. Our Ship Repair team in Jacksonville, FL has immediate openings for several mechanical related positions with varying degrees of experience required. The Rigging Shop Mechanic performs a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, electronic equipment, testing, steel/pipe work, general dock, rudders, shafting, wheel work, anchor chain and flight deck safety net related work. Load and pull testing of various pieces of equipment can also be expected of this position. The Mechanic operates equipment for assembly and installation; conducts pre-operational inspections of equipment and record findings to management, records work performed and follows specified safety policies and procedures. Must be able to perform and communicate Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), demonstrate deck plate leadership skills and abilities to subordinate mechanics with minimal oversight. The selected candidate should note that these positions are available at all levels, Experience level will be determined upon initial review and interview. when being given further consideration. Selected candidates will be eligible for a signing bonus. Relocation assistance will be provided to selected candidates coming from out of the Jacksonville Florida area. Required Education, Experience, & Skills The Rigging Mechanic must demonstrate basic knowledge of the skills and abilities required to perform tasks in these and related areas of responsibility. Must be able to obtain and maintain Defense Biometric Identification Systems "DBIDS" access card. The selected candidate should note that these positions are available at all levels, Experience level will be determined upon initial review and interview. when being given further consideration. Basic to Advanced knowledge means that the mechanic understands how to perform tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to complete them with minimal assistance. This also means that the mechanic has the necessary level of knowledge of the equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to complete these tasks. In some cases, as specified, mechanic is expected to assist, rather than completing the task independently. Based on skill level the mechanic must demonstrate a basic to advanced understanding of vessel compartments, number systems and related vessel terminology for multiple ship platforms naval and commercial. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of job planning and executing, proper gear selection, leading helpers and handypersons with normal supervision.Education MinimumEducation Preferred Minimum Relevant Experience Preferred Relevant Experience *High school Diploma/GEDHigh school Diploma/GED and or Certifications Entry LevelAdvanced experiencePreferred Education, Experience, & Skills Qualified Signalperson; knows and understands the type of signals used at the worksite, is competent in using these signals and understands the operations and limitations of the equipment, including the crane dynamics involved in swinging, raising, lowering and stopping loads and in boom deflection from hoisting loads. Knows and understands the relevant signal person qualification requirements specified in OSHA Requirements as specified in subpart CC (1926.1419-1926.1422; 1926.1428). Passes an oral or written test and a practical test. 1 year plus or more of Rigging Mechanic experience.
