Overview

Works under the direction of the Supervisor of Production, or designee, with a minimum of supervision. Assembles aircraft structural details, subassemblies, and/or assemblies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Performs all fabrication tasks in assigned cell(s), project or functional area and is capable of operating all work stations/equipment within the assigned cell(s).
* Tasks will be performed within full-scale production manufacturing operation and may include tasks with unusual and diverse fabrication, mechanical assembly, and quality assurance processes following established methods, policies and procedures.
* Working from complicated drawings, specifications and charts, assembles or disassembles a wide variety of complex aircraft mechanical and/or structural details, subassemblies and/or assemblies, including installations and riggings related to safety of flight, to required standards.
* Is responsible for maintaining production output of cell(s) to schedule, ensuring tact time is attained with a minimum of scrap, waste or downtime.
* Track costs and conformance of parts to appropriate quality standards within an assigned cell(s).
* Maintains familiarity with company/customer blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, etc. Maintain records, data, logs, etc., as necessary or required.
* Detects and reports any unusual circumstances and/or defective material or tooling. Recommends and implements for continuous improvements in product quality and manufacturing processes.
* Capable of performing all of the standard work required in assigned cell(s) and performing all of the complex fabrication tasks involving working familiarity and use of equipment such as hand and power tools common to the craft, jigs, fixtures and assembly aids as well as precision measuring instruments.
* Maintains a high degree of accuracy and integrity while working to close tolerance levels.
* Participates in cell fabrication projects and assists with process improvement methods, solutions and procedures to enhance program quality, cost and scheduling.
* May assist in training of new or lower level employees.

Qualifications

* High school diploma or GED required. 3 years of applied trades training a plus.
* Minimum of 4 years of related experience required
* Ability to effectively use hand/power tools common to the manufacture of aircraft sheet metal and structural parts.
* Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
* Must be able read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, charts and tables.
* Ability to effectively use advance shop math.
