JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to lead the development and
implementation of new processes of evaluating Citizens' rating plan
and overall rate level and evaluate Citizens' book of business and
refine methods of determining rate redundancies and inadequacies in
Citizen's book of business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Models ethical behavior and executes job responsibilities in
accordance with Citizens core values, ethics, and information
protection policies.
Responsible for managing staff, including hiring, goal setting,
planning and delegation of work, training and development,
coaching/mentoring and completing performance evaluations.
Evaluate and recommend improvements in the current rate indication
process and loss reserving processes, and to continuously evaluate
and improve actuarial techniques applied by Citizens.
Apply stochastic modeling to reinsurance decisions, probability of
assessments, and other dynamic financial situations. Apply
predictive modeling techniques such as GLMS, neural nets, and
decision trees to historical data.
Oversee all research and preparation of rate filings for the Office
of Insurance Regulation in compliance with filing requirements, and
certifying that filings are appropriate and consistent with Florida
statutes and rules. Also conduct research and compose white papers
on various complex actuarial matters.
Provide technical support as it relates to reserve levels, purchase
of reinsurance and other senior management level decisions.
Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Solid knowledge of catastrophe models
Working knowledge of claims procedures
Knowledge of basic insurance operations
Knowledge of fitting models to insurance data
Thorough knowledge of reserve concepts
Thorough knowledge of ratemaking concepts
Working knowledge of accounting procedures
Highly proficient in advanced statistical modeling, quantitative
skills and problem-solving skills, data mining, database, and
programming skills
Ability to design, develop reports and information in such a way as
to be meaningful to the recipient of the information
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to apply insurance knowledge and problem-solving skills
independently and creatively to insurance specific issues
Ability to communicate complex and technical topics to
non-technical professionals
Advanced proficiency of all Microsoft Office Products to include
Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Ability to prioritize, multi-task in a demanding work
environment
Ability to lead, engage, network and influence at all levels
including the team level
Advanced analytical and math skills
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships,
navigate the organization, and leverage relations to achieve
results.

This position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time,
hear and converse over the telephone and key frequently on a
computer (4 or more hours per day).
