Job Description:
SUMMARY An Assistant Superintendent for Dredging is responsible
for supervising fieldwork and ensuring that Manson's minimum
planning processes, safety standards, policies, and procedures are
met. Must be able to work a rotating schedule. Travel is extensive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Additional duties may be assigned. Directly supervises craft
employees on a dredging site. Performs supervisory responsibilities
in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable
federal and state laws. Responsibilities include interviewing,
hiring, training; planning, assigning, and directing work;
appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;
addressing complaints and resolving problems. Directs best work
practices in conjunction with the Project Manager and/or Operations
Manager. Work under the General Superintendent and Project
Superintendent on large projects and assignments. Act as a Project
Superintendent on small assignments. Maintain a high standard of
ethical behavior, encourage ethical behavior in others, support
ethical decisions, and actively seek appropriate resolutions to
potential ethical conflicts. Provide supervisory direction to craft
workers. Manage the execution and performance of productivity,
safety, and quality for each assignment. Organize and schedule the
workforce; assign, oversee, and follow up on the performance of
work. Work with Project Staff to develop and maintain the Project
Schedule and high-level planning items. Assist the project team
with the development of Project Plans, Work Element Plans, and
JSA's Develop and establish checklists for inspections, audits,
emergency response, etc. Instruct and train employees,
subcontractors, and others in safe and efficient methods of work.
Implement and supervise quality control standards for each field
operation. Coordinate and maintain equipment required for the
project. Collaborates with Project Team, client, inspectors, etc.
to isolate problems and assist in developing solutions to problems.
Execute field operations within all Federal, State, and local
environmental rules and regulations. Responsible for practicing
safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF)
work environment as a condition of employment. SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise Foremen and Deck Captains assigned to an
area of responsibility. Act as a liaison between Project
Management, Field Engineering, Estimating, and Craft Employees.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must
be able to perform satisfactorily the essential duties and
responsibilities noted above. Reasonable accommodations may be made

functions. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 3 or more years of field
construction experience. Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical
area of study, typically Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid Driver's
License and acceptable driving record. First Aid/CPR Certification,
preferred OSHA Certification, preferred Fall Protection Competent
Person, preferred COMPUTER SKILLS Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) is required. Experience
with scheduling, estimating, computer-aided design (CAD), and
project management software is preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work
environment characteristics described here are representative of
those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the
essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be

job site and equipment. Less than 25% of the time will require
working in a site office. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The position is
primarily a field position and will require travel, including
visits and monitoring of dredging job sites. Must be able to wear
the personal protective equipment (PPE) required for various
construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation
devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators,
etc). Required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step
stools, and reach with hands and arms. Must frequently lift and/or
move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50
pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders, and gangways,
board, work on, and disembark floating vessels and structures. The
noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. The
employee may be required to both sit and stand for extended periods
