The shipboard machinist will perform all duties required to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain electrically powered metal machining equipment such as a milling machine or lathe. The equipment to be used shipboard will be 2 axis and 3 axis portable milling machines. Must have experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical connections. -Essential Functions: Utilize metal machining methods including cutting speeds, cutting feeds, surface smoothness, flatness. Will work with vertical and horizontal milling machines, line boring equipment, and lathes is required. Use precision measuring devices such as micrometers, depth gauges, angle indicators, drilling, and tapping of threaded holes.Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance. -Qualifications: -Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. -Must have five (5) years machine shop experience performing metal machining utilizing portable and / or machine shop equipment.
