Jobsites = throughout NE Florida (mainly Duval and St. Johns
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not
to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be
required and assigned.
Lead a crew in the installation of underground utilities; water
mains, fire mains, sewer mains and storm drains
Execute pipe work in accordance with plans, specs and directives
from the Superintendent
Safety Manager for the crew
Knows and understands the production schedule.
Can plan daily work from the projects 4 week schedule and executes
Can perform and train the essential job functions for any position
on the pipe crew.
Identify, report and correct hazards, NEAR MISS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential
Effective communication skills
Ability to measure, perform construction math and calculate
Can set up and properly use a pipe laser and builders level.
Rigging and hoisting
PSCC and OSHA rules, Safe trenching
Understands optimum moisture, densities and compaction
Basic IT skills, can navigate smart phone and I Pad to fill forms
Read and interpret plans, including pipe restraint joint charts
Proper techniques for joining different types of pipe; push joint,
MJ, restrained joints, TR Flex and flanged.
Heavy Equipment Operation
Ability to stand for long periods; handle and manipulate objects on
a repetitive basis. Ability to see well and distinguish between
back up alarms, voices and other normal sounds consistent with
construction job sites. Ability to climb in and out of trenches,
ability to lift 80 lbs.
Work inside and outside in all weather conditions, and various
locations and times of day. Hard hat, hearing and eye protection,
Hi-visibility clothing required.
Training and Experience:
3 years of utility pipe installation
High school diploma or equivalent
Competent Person training
Confined space training
NPDES/Erosion Control training
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work independently and self-motivated
Team player, able to get along with a diverse group of people
working towards a common goal
