An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fraud & Portfolio Analyst to join Macquarie's Specialized Finance team.The Specialized and Asset Finance Division, part of the Commodities and Global Markets Group, is a leading structured & asset finance and leasing specialist. We are responsible for the investment in and financing of capital equipment in industries where earnings flow from the use of these assets. We provide finance solutions for government and corporate markets and are one of the largest independent providers of operating lease finance in the Asia-Pacific region as well as having significant operations in Europe and North America. We have approximately 900 staff engaged in leasing and asset finance / lending activities in diverse asset classes across various locations through Australia, Asia, Europe, and North America.Our Leasing & Trading division focuses on financing a broad range of equipment including a substantial focus on technology and manufacturing equipment. Business is generated across the full spectrum of customers and deal types, ranging from structured transactions for large publicly listed customers to small ticket SMB flow business supporting global vendor partners.As an Analyst, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end fraud process across the platform, supporting credit/risk function and settlements. You will provide effective guidance as it relates to fraud and controls as well as develop new, and enhance existing fraud processes, strategies, and controls to mitigate fraud throughout the transaction lifecycle, from original submission through to funding.In this role you will conduct ongoing analysis on portfolio, to detect and explore trends that indicate performance concerns, inefficiencies, or higher risk of loss. Building relationships with Business Operational Risk Managers and the Financial Crimes Risk Team will be a key component in your role.Your pre- booking responsibilities will include tasks such as reviewing via sampling of transactions post approval, to include name matching, analysis of documents received at submission and prior to funding. Providing oversight of the accreditation of suppliers, handling any issues/exceptions to policy, providing oversight of the review of supplier bank account verification process and handling any issues/exceptions to process will all be paramount functions in your role. Further, you will be responsible for SARs from the business and oversight of conditions of approval and asset inspections.Your role will also consist of relationship onboarding where you will be responsible for third party billing and collecting relationships, prefunding relationships, and assignment relationships.Your post-booking responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring of relationship annual reviews
  • Creating a relationship early watch trigger system
  • Billing and collecting audits and monitoring
  • Business fraud training
  • Updating processes, policies, and data sources to identify and minimize fraud
  • Postmortem of defaults and losses, including first payment defaultsTo be considered for this role, you will have:
    • Strong knowledge of the commercial (non-consumer) fraud life cycle, industry trends and fraud tools/solutions
    • 2+ years of commercial fraud and/or risk experience or operational controls experience at a financial institution - leasing preferred
    • Strong problem solving/analytical skills
    • Heightened attention to detail
    • Proficiency with data analysis
    • Confident decision maker, works well under pressure
