Learn more at Optical Tooling Tech 4 is an advanced position focused on the manufacture of inserts for optical component manufacturing to support product development and discovery. An understanding of design principles, G&M code and machining principles is required to develop innovative solutions that can translate novel insert designs into functioning lathe programs. Key Responsibilities :

  • This position seeks collaboration and interaction with multiple engineering groups including lens design, tooling design, injection molding, and product development in the application of the design-build-test development process.
  • Develops processes, equipment and workstreams to enable new product development regarding advanced optical designs, precision surface tolerances and enhanced optical component quality.
  • Applies technical skills to understand, communicate and resolve technical challenges.
  • Performs optical and dimensional measurements to interpret component quality attributes.
  • This position is expected to be a lab owner and to train and develop junior technicians, and performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • As a lab owner other key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintaining the Tooling Development area in compliance with ISO/GMP standards, Safety and Quality initiatives including periodic inspections and observations. Meets quality and productivity goals established by management. Adheres to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives; actively manages and maintains current chemical inventories, diamonds, blanks, PM schedules for lab equipment.
